Possible obstacle 1: You’re busy and tight on time
Possible solution 1: Consider Katy Milkman’s temptation bundling—read while doing something else on your list. For example, listen to the audio book while doing household chores.
Possible obstacle 2: You struggle with permission to take time for yourself
Possible solution 2: Practice willingness toward guilt or other difficult feelings. Open and allow discomfort.
Possible obstacle 3: You’re “shoulding” yourself
Possible solution 3: Connect with values. Does this truly matter to you? Read if it’s a values-driven “want to,” not an inner critic’s “should”
Possible obstacle 4: You’d rather read “beach books” than do the work in those self-help books

I hiked my first slot canyon with my little guy. It was rated “difficult” and we are new hikers but we made it to the top (it was steep but short!) and had a blast while doing it! |
